Catching Caerus in Washington State ( 02/24/16 – 02/28/16 )

My Washington State trip was a 5 day trip that covered mostly nature scenes and seeing my friends Sean, Alania and her family.

Day 1

Was a simple day that covered nothing but self-care, travel preparations and the early evening flight. I Stayed at Alania’s parents’ house during this trip which is in Lacey, WA. Flying over the Rocky Mountains was an absolute blast during. The flight was quick and painless, mosy likely because I sleep 3 of the 4 hour flight.

Day 2

Things sped up, my first stop was Solo Point which is part of the Fort Lewis military installation. The trails stay in great conditions despite wet climates due to the natural tree cover and is used on a regular basis by soldiers, dog walkers, mountain bikers, and trail runners. My next stop was Nisqually River which is located in west central Washington and is about 81 miles long. The river forms the Pierce-Lewis county line and it also sets the boundary between Thurston and Pierce counties. Olympia followed next which is the capitol of Washington State. I passed by the Olympia capitol building and visited the Port of Olympia, where I got to see jellyfish for the first time. Later on I went to Tumwater falls which is a series of cascades that flow along the Deschutes River. The scenery was beautiful and I stopped at a brewery along the way. I also visited the Heritage Park Fountain in Olympia. The fountain is off during the hottest parts of the day due to daily maintenance procedures and closed every Wednesday for the same reason. My entertainment for the day was two wasps fighting on the concrete with the sun shining. Lastly Sean and I drove to his old house to spark up some old memories followed by a trip to Point Defiance Park. The park is operated and maintained by the Metropolitan Park District of Tacoma and has over 3 million people that come to visit every year. The park sits on 702 acres of land and has lots of places to visit including an off-leash dog park, a ferry dock, a boathouse, trails, beaches, a boardwalk, the Rhododendron Garden, the Rose Garden, zoo & aquarium and a stand of old-growth forest that is worth a look. The day was full of adventure to say the least.

Day 3

I decided to walk the William Ives Public Trail. There was an endless amount of big trees and a huge open field to look over. The weather was chilly but the scenery was worth it. Later on I finished the day with delicious food (bratwurst, Kebab, German chocolate cake and Apple Streusel) at a German & American food & bakery with Mama T, Pops, and Tyler.

Day 4

I took a trip to the Hawks Prairie golf club with Alania's little big brother Tyler. The big open fields were surrounded by a ton of trees and forest area. Deer came out of the woods to graze and I was able to get pretty close to them while taking pictures. They’re so used to human interaction that they’re not fazed at all. Later in the day I went to chill with Alania and her kids for a while and then ended the night with my first Elk burger and brisket. The following day I took my return flight home from another fun trip.
